Create your elevator pitch

Introducing yourself well sets the stage for a professional conversation, whether that’s at a networking event, with a colleague or at the beginning of an interview. One tool many people use to make introductions simple and effective is the elevator pitch.

1.   Use the following links to learn how to create and deliver your elevator pitch:

2.   Record and post your own elevator pitch.

3.   Watch your classmates’ speeches and make constructive comments. Have the guidelines been followed? What are the main strengths of each elevator speech? Write at least one strength and one weakness for each elevator pitch. How could they be improved? Provide feedback in relation to the following assessment criteria:

-Linguistic use: grammar/vocabulary accuracy, range and adequacy.
-Task achievement: efficient achievement of communicative purpose, content relevance and extent.
-Fluency and pronunciation: speech flow, intonation, stress and rhythm.
-Communicative resources: use of linguistic and non-linguistic resources, support materials and attitude.

  3. Elevator pitch
First: Good explanation of the topic but it would have been better if he had emphasized the words and with a more pronounced intonation.
Second: A very good body langauge and prununciation, maybe too long. not FROM-> TO
Third: Grammatically speaking, needs to improve, maybe spoke too quickly. It's friendly

  4. about the first video,
I think that the elevator speech of Roger has an appropriate structure and he has a good fluency. I will just add a sentence between the end of his own up data about himself and the farewell. Also I think he could improve his English pronunciation.
The next video of Laura is very nice. She has much more grammar and it is more suitable. About the structure I didn't see anything wrong. she has a positive face expression and nice sound.
And the last video of Sigrid,
she seems so exciting at the beginning of her introduction and also at the end, but she has a good fluency and grammar.

  5. Elevator Pitch 1 :
Even if the presentation is very short, there is a good structure of the elevator pitch, starting with introducing himself and then showing his interest to the company.
However, there is some grammatical mistakes, for example saying "I am searching for " instead of " I am looking for".

Also, the word "fan" used is informal and could be replaced by the verb "admire".

    Elevator pitch 2 :

This presentation shows a lot of enthusiasm, it shows that she really wants the job.
However, the rythm of the speech is a little bit fast , which can lead to confusion .

    Elevator pitch 3 :

By specifying exactly the period when she wants to work in the hotel, she shows that she is ready to start.

  6. Elevator pitch 1:
Pros: Good structure, body language & self-confidence
Cons: Pronunciation (e.g. tourism) & some grammar problems (e.g. not "a fan of you" but "a fan of yours", not "in this summer" but "this summer", not "I would like to know how could I join to your company" but "I would like to know how I could join your company")

    Elevator pitch 2:
Pros: Very expressive & communicative, good pronunciation & fluency
Cons: Not "close from you" but "close to you", not "who I can contact to" but "who I can contact"

    Elevator pitch 3:
    Pros: Good pronunciation & enthusiasm
Cons: A bit too fast at the beginning & misuse of "contact" (e.g. not "contact with you" but "contact you", not "I'm gonna put in contact with her" but "I'm going to contact her")

  7. Elevator 1: the speaker has been clear and direct. I would say "join your company" instead of "join TO your company".
Elevator 2: I've liked the way the speaker has done it. The speaker knows how to draw the attention by the way he or she speaks. The speaker could speak slowly and "The university is close to you and not from you".
Elvator 3: I've liked the way the speaker has expressed the information. The pronunciation has been very good. I think you "do not put in contact", you "get in touch"

  20. Elevator 5: Good body language but a bit quick when she was talking.
Elevator 6: Emphasies the language skills. I think the rythm of the speech is a bit slow.
Elevator 7: Really good pronunciation and very fluent, friendly. Any body language. It's good that she explain some experience in tourism sector.

  21. Elevator pitch 4:
Pros: Very expressive & fluent. Projects a good image as a candidate.
Cons: Not "I was living abroad" but "I lived abroad". "Who I can contact" (without "with"). Not "It was so great to meeting you" but "Meeting you was great"

    Elevator pitch 5:
Pros: Good pronunciation, word linking & fluency. Very accurate.
Cons: A pause is needed after "I speak four languages fluently". Not "my demand" but "my application" or "my request"

  22. Elevator pitch 6:
Pros: Very expressive, manages to give the impression that she's really motivated. Good pronunciation and fluency.
Cons: Waving your hand for greeting at the beginning & at the end may seem a bit childish. Wrong sentences: "I've informed a lot about your travel agency and I think it's the better place for someone who is a lover of tourism for working", "I would love to keep in touch with you and you to know more about me". The correct sentences could be: "I've searched for in-depth information on your travel agency and I think it's the best workplace for someone who loves tourism", "I would love to keep in touch with you and I would like to encourage you to know more about me".

    Elevator pitch 7:
Pros: Great expressiveness & excellent intonation.
Cons: A bit hesitating. Language problems: "sales assistant" instead of "sale assistant", "I am fascinated" instead of "I fascinated", "I would like to apply for this post/job" instead of "I would like to apply for this company", "I've been working in other places" instead of "I've been working in another places", "I hope to contact you" instead of "I hope in get in contact with you", and the pronunciation of "hotel", which is stressed in the second syllable.
