The pronunciation and the tone makes me feel that she don't understand what she's saying, it's like if she has just learned a dialog and throw it away.

It's true that she said the words culture and architecture with a good pronunciation but she should keep working on the r ( not say rrrrrreal ) the h ( avoid to say the Spanish j ) the u from full...

it's true that she gesticulates a lot, and try to finish the words and the questions with Spanish accent, however, we’ve seen other politics trying to speak Spanish ( Bush, Clinton … ) and none of them could say more than two words…
Moreover, what annoys me is that as a student I'm supposed to have a perfect English and she as a mayor from the capital of a country has no idea (and with all the advisors, teachers, etc. ..)

Best Regards

As people say, it's the thought that counts.
From my perspective, she has made an effort speaking a language that is not yours. Still, I think they should let to the people prepared and who speak languages in speeches.
Ana Botella's English is not correct. It is true that some words are pronounced well, but others don't and that has that we don't understand him.
The ending of the words is incorrect in many cases because they pronounce letters that should be silent.
She gestures for us to understand better, but really don't get it, and I'm ashamed to think that I live in a country where the people who govern us is a uncultivated.

This is a perfect example of how you don't have to speak english.
Ana Botella is only saying the words she has been learning during a period of time, and she learned how to pronounce them and use the correct voice, but the words are not connected as it is supposed to be correct and it's clear that she doesn't have any idea of what is saying.
The emotion, gesticulation and loud voice she is using only remarks the low level she has.

What I really don't understand is that in the preparation of this speak, nobody who listened before she made the appearence in the conference told her that she was speaking like a 5 year old child. I suppose the power is the power, and nobody dared to tell her this. Or perhaps (that would be worse), the ones who prepared her for the conference told her she was doing it well because they thought she was....

In my opinion, Ana Botella seems that explain their presentation to kids of 7 years. She wants do very well your explanation for the everybody but the tone of voice is not adecuate.

I understand that their level of English is very normal, but in this presentation, Spain and most people plays to win the Olympic Games.

She knows that most people in all around the world was watching and the presentation there will be perfect in all aspects ( pronuntiation, intention, beat, time... )

To finish, all people knows that occurred.

It is true, that Ana Botella has done a big effort in his speech. This does not mean that it have been correct, the main problem of this speech is his pronunciation, as my colleages have said, she looks like a small boy. Also in English, the intonation is very important but his intonation is not in the correct syllables, the same happens with the word stress. I think that with more practises, she could have done much better. In most of speech the fluency fails a lot because she pauses in some mistaken moments.

Finally, I think that she should have a higher level, especially in pronuntiation because she works in a important place and I think that english is basic.

I agree with my colleagues. It is true that the vocabulary that she used it was simple, and his pronunciation was not correct.

But I would like to recognize the great work that of the English teacher of Anna Botella:

There are a difficult sentences to say, and she pronounce very well ( as a "You can see, feel and taste"). In addition, she used correctly some word linking (the speech is clear and understandable)

I believe in politics, so in my opinion the objective was to communicate something to the rest of the world, and this goal was accomplish.

I think that Anna Botella was not prepared to do such a conference.
In a international conference where the Olympics are being discussed she mixed two languages while talking and her speech was not serious.
Therefore, she didn’t use the perfect language for that kind of conference. She made mistakes in word stress, word linking but the worst errors was the fluency, the intonation and the mix of languages.
As my partners have said, it looked like it was in an English class for children, and for this reason Anna Botella put Madrid into the third position in the ranking.

Making an analysis of the presentation of Ana Botella, on the one hand, we see that the vocabulary is understandable to anyone with a basic level of English. But her big mistake is her pronunciation and her gesticulation, because she seems to be giving the presentation to children who do not understand anything. Maybe, she had to practice more and someone corrected the errors of intonation and fluency. But seeing the level of English of other political, she leaves much to be wished...
In conclusion, the presentation was a disaster and I think if she had practiced the result would be the same. Because the politicians of Spain have a level of English low or null, but they know how to lie and demand.
