Welcome to the academic year 2024-25. In this introductory session, you're required to carry out two production tasks.
1. Written expression. Write a story in pairs using as many of the following words as possible:
-Actually
-Career
-Despite
-Regardless of
-If she/he had only known
Swap your texts with another pair after 10 minutes and continue writing them until you have contributed to all the stories. Use your imagination and be creative!
2. Oral expression. Rank the following concepts according to your personal priorities in life:
-Family
-Friends
-Health
-Money
-Politics
-Romance
-Sex
-Sport
-Studies
-Work
Make a list individually and then compare it to other students' choices to reach a consensus and create a single list. Once you've finished, join another pair to follow the same process and come up with a single list you all agree with. Provide arguments for this pyramidal discussion until the entire class produces a consensual ranking.

It was a sunny day of summer when Sarah started her career job. she was actually excited to start working as a receptionist. Before she started her job, she decided to go on vacation in Costa Rica to relax. The day before of her flight she checked the weather and she saw that a storm was approaching her town. Despite of that situation she was brave enough to take a flight. If she had only known what was going to happen on the flight...Once she got on the plane, she sat down and she took her sleeping pills. She was going to fall asleep when the plane entered turbulence zone. People started screaming and her glass of coffee fell on her legs. Regardless of this terrible turbulence, Sarah wasn't scared. She was a wonder woman.
It was the end of the school year and we decided to go with the group of classmates and law teacher to the beach. Actually, we went to the Costa Brava, despite the weather not being satisfying.
If we had only known that the previous week it had been raining, we would have decided another place to meet.
A part fro the weather, the vacation was very funny because Marco lost his bags at the beach. In his bags there were so many important things like the laptop with private clients' information as credit card numbers, embarassing pictures,etc.
If somebody would find his laptop and decide to share the content, his teaching career will be over.
Marco was stressed and worried but the decided to focus on his holidays and enjoy his vacation, regardless of him being able to find his suitcase and laptop or not.
He was laying on the beach when suddenly he felt a hand tapping his shoulder. It was some kid who was wondering around, searching for the owner of the laptop that he had found. What a surprise!
He got the kid a drink to thank him and they became great friends!
In April of 2022 a young man called William Bowery from US decided to take a trip to Thailand to give a chance to his photography career.
As soon as he landed he took a taxi to go to his camping site in the jungle.
Despite his tiredness once he arrived to the camping site William end up walking around all night. he had an amazing time exploring the jungle, when he had seen something shiny laying next to the tree.
That was a shake’s shed. So he decided to go that direction.
If he had only known, how his trip will go in that way, he wouldn’t follow the shake’s shed. Actually, it was not shake shed, it was a dinosaur fossil. regardless of his horrible experience his vacation in Thailand was really nice but next year h will choose another destination.
Jane wanted to go on a trip to Thailand, regardless of what her family wanted which was going to Sweden. She was the youngest daughter and had an older brother, John. John's professional career was working as an engineer. Jane's birthday was coming up so the family wanted to do something special. They ended up flying to Sweden. If she had only jnown how horrible the trip will turn out, she wouldn't have come. They went to a theme park where they spend the day. Actually they decided to stay a few more days due to the fun they were having. Despite of the horrible things that happened to them Jane was starting to enjoy the trip. In particular she loved all the chocolate they bought. The last night in Sweden, they decided to go to a Casino to play some games because they felt lucky. John started playing black jack and ended up winning the highest amount of money, about $20k. He was so excited about it and decided to let his family play aswell but turned out to lose all of the winnings.
