Research project. Stage 1

This project is an improvement plan based on a study of an existing tourist product or service that is close enough for you to investigate first-hand: a hotel, a theme park, a holiday package, etc. You must study the product, draw its real downsides and, using these downsides as a starting point, design an improvement plan. Continuous assessment students must carry it out in pairs, while final assessment students must do it individually.

The presentation must last 12 minutes if it's delivered by two students or 10 minutes in the case of individual presentations. It will be followed by a few questions from the panel of examiners, adding up to a total of 15 minutes. Visual support is compulsory and it can be PowerPoint, Prezi etc.

Given the nature of this final project, you should choose a product that isn't too successful, so this way designing an improvement plan will be easier and more realistic. You can check out http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ or similar websites and pick a product which, in sight of the users' opinions, shows a need for improvement. Take into account that you'll need to look for 80-100 customer reviews. You can also choose a product or service based on your own experience (e.g. a hotel where you work or have stayed). However, you can't analyse Port Aventura, Hotel W, Ryanair, Horta Maze, Carmel bunkers, Parc Güell or Tibidabo amusement park. Improvement plans for transport infrastructures aren't advisable either, since they're highly complex. Products shouldn't be repeated.

Post your product description on this blog, mentioning all the sources of information that you've used.

Hello, my group is Andrea Bouquin and myself and Mar Herrero.
We have chosen the Hotel HTOP Royal Star & SPA, it is located in Lloret de Mar.
The Hotel has six floors and a total of 397 rooms.
It has a heated indoor pool, 2 swimming pools, a snack bar, a sauna, a steam bath and a gym, as well as a programme of activities and entertainment.
We have chosen this hotel because it has several negative reviews and we believe we can offer a major improvement plan.

Hello, my group is Sara Carboneras and Paula Toro.
We have chosen the Hotel Joma, that is located in the historic heart of Jerez, 10 minutes’ walk from Jerez Cathedral. Many of the city’s main attractions can be reached comfortably on foot. The Flamenco, Bullfighting and Archaeology Musuems are all 10 minutes’ walk away, while the Villamarta Theatre is 200 metres away.
But according to TripAdvisor's reviews, the location is the only thing worth highlighting about the hotel.

Hello, my group is Toni Esteve and Andrea Vilaginés.
We have chosen the HOTEL ARRIAGA, located in the old town of Bilbao in the most commercial and central area of Bilbao.
Next to the hotel, we can find the Plaza Nueva with its pintxo bars, the Ribera Market, and the Santiago Cathedral, which is a must-pass of the Camino de Santiago.
We have chosen this hotel since it has been receiving very bad reviews during the last months due to the bad cleanliness of the hotel and the value for money.

Hello, my group is Ignazi and Leo
We have chosen the Hotel Flor Pakes , it is located in Barceona
Hotel Flor Parks is close by the 7 Portes, Botafumeiro and El Nacional.
The reason we chose this hotel is because we found out that customers have mixed reviews about the hotel, and we are going to find out why.

Our team, consisting of Oscar and Marieta, has selected Terra Mitica for our study. Situated in Benidorm, this theme park has garnered recent criticism for issues like ride quality, park cleanliness, and perceived value for money. We aim to delve into these concerns, providing insights into the current state of Terra Mitica and contributing to ongoing discussions about its shortcomings.

The facilities at this 2-star hotel in Jerez de la Frontera are modest yet functional, providing guests with the basic amenities necessary for a stay. Each room is equipped with standard features such as air conditioning and heating, ensuring a suitable environment regardless of the weather. Room services include satellite TV, telephone, and a private bathroom for added comfort. Safe rental services are also available for guests' peace of mind.

Nightly rates range from €39 to €57 for a room with two single beds, making it an affordable option for budget-conscious travelers. However, it's important to note that this hotel has received a low rating on TripAdvisor, suggesting potential limitations in terms of service or facilities. Despite this, guests looking for economical lodging in the heart of Jerez may still find it a viable choice for their stay.

Hello, in our group, Andres Bossart and Judit Rico, we will analyze the one-star Hotel Jaume I, located in the Gothic Quarter, just 1 block from Jaume I metro station, a 3-minute walk from the Barcelona Cathedral, and 1.7 km from Sant Sebastià Beach. We have chosen this hotel due to its overall poor rating. The hotel has 39 rooms, and the average price for each room ranges between 85€ and 140€. Both on Google and TripAdvisor, the hotel receives an average score of 3.2 over 5.

Hello, we are Erika and Clara and we will analyze the 4star Hotel Boutique Well&Come, located in the Eixample Quarter, on the same street as the meto Verdaguer and just 10min walking to Sagrada Familia. We hace chosen this hotel because I, Clara, had work there and for my experience there are things that can be improved, even that the hotel has a good rating on Booking and TripAdvisor, there is always the same negatives comments about the poor soundproof of the rooms, the bad smells or the lack of variety on the breakfast.

Hello we are Marina and Saray, and we have chosen the restaurant La churrería de ladronesco located in Comillas, Cantabria, in the street Plaza del Corro, 39520, Comillas Spain. We have chosen it because we have seen that in Tripadvisor it has a very bad score and we find it interesting to analyze it. It has a score of 1/5, it is lousy according to the reviews.

Our group is formed by Fernando and Aleix.

We have chosen the Hotel Exe Vienna, a 115 rooms hotel 4 stars located in ottakringerstraße.
It has a few facilities including an indoor pool and a basic gym. It has a parking, breakfast buffet and reception service 24/7.

Even though it’s not one of the worst hotels we could have chosen in Vienna, looking at the reviews makes us feel like there are a lot of things to improve.

Situated in Benidorm, this theme park has garnered recent criticism for issues like ride quality, park cleanliness, and perceived value for money. We aim to delve into these concerns, providing insights into the current state of Terra Mitica and contributing to ongoing discussions about its shortcomings.

In addition to these issues, Terra Mitica boasts a range of facilities aimed at providing a comprehensive entertainment experience for visitors. These facilities include:

Various themed areas representing ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
A diverse selection of thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, and live entertainment shows.
Restaurants and food outlets offering a variety of cuisines to cater to different tastes and preferences.
Gift shops and souvenir stores selling themed merchandise and memorabilia.
Amenities such as restrooms, first aid stations, and designated areas for relaxation and picnicking.
By exploring both the challenges and the offerings of Terra Mitica, we aim to provide a balanced perspective on the theme park's overall visitor experience.
